I strongly welcome this report, which the CRE has commissioned from Schneider~Ross. It acts as a progress report on tackling racial discrimination in Wales and provides the first real evidence of how public authorities are cacing up to the challenges of the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000.

It provides clear and in some cases disturbing evidence of the problems we face, the benefits of addressing institutional racism and the areas where there is still a great deal to be done. This report demonstrates the real significance of mainstreaming racial equality and the General Duty in everything we do. It shows the need to deliver real outcomes on the ground and avoid getting caught up with the unnecessary paper chasing.
